How much money does a jockey get?
They get 10% of the purse they earn plus a riding fee which ranges from about $50 per mount to about $100 per mount for the great riders. So a jockey can ride 8 races a day and the minimum he will earn will be about $400. If he earns any of the purse money he will also get 10% of that. Purse money is paid down to the fifth place horse at most tracks.
