Does ear candling work?
Ear candling or ear coning is an alternative method used for removing the wax in the ear. It is claimed to improve the general health of the ear by lighting a hollow candle at one end and placing another end in the canal of the ear. The process of ear candling requires the use of ear candles which are made of cotton or linen that is wound into a shape of cone and is soaked in wax and left to get hardened. The users of ear candling claims this process creates a low vacuum which draws the wax and the other debris out of the ear into the hollow candle which is left out as a dark colored waxy mass at the stub of the candle. But there is no evidence to prove that the ear candling process is actually effective. As per the medical research ear candling is ineffective as well as dangerous.
