Surfactant Enhanced Oil Recovery Projects can utilize existing waterflood infrastructure, making it optimal for companies who already use water to produce trapped oil. CFT plans to use single well tests to demonstrate field level feasibility. Different formulations can be tested to find the right surfactant formula for optimum economic recovery. Surfactants are not limited by depth or pressure and have no environmental issues or costs, as they are already being used in fracturing fluids and in environmental remediation projects. Why CFT? CFT will evaluate candidate reservoirs for surfactant EOR using characterization studies of rock and fluid properties, OOIP, recovery and current saturations, laboratory testing of surfactant formulations, and preparing screening reports. Field pilot projects will include single well tracer tests, injectivity tests, and design and implementation of a pilot program.
