Is sleep paralysis a real phenomena?
I’m sorry you had such a terrifying experience. That is often times grounds for malpractice- not sure if you’ve looked into it. Many places have stated policies that someone that gets a paralytic drug MUST be sedated as well just to prevent such traumatic experiences. However, there are stages of sleep where you are rather “paralyzed” and can’t move consciously. Usually you’re out of it and don’t have any awareness but sometimes people are lucid during these times and acutely aware of their inability to move. I’ve had some of these experiences myself, and they are kind of freaky. If that’s the case- it’s not entirely abnormal, but you’re probably hypersensitive to it given the event that happened to you. If it’s really distressing talk to your doctor.
