How to choose an electronic drum kit?
Almost all modern electronic drum-kits have a good range of basic drum sounds that fairly accurately recreate the sound of a real acoustic 5 piece drum-kit. The key difference is the way the drum pads respond to the drum sticks, and this has two important factors: • The drum stick must bounce off the drum head in a consistent, predictable way that closely simulates the bounce of a real acoustic drum head. This is crucial for all drummers and especially important for a beginner drummer to understand and master the technique of stick control. • The drum head must accurately respond to the force and velocity of the drum stick and the triggers must translate the playing dynamics into a drum sound that reproduces all of the fine tonal and volume changes that a live drummer creates.
