You can get different coloured poo’s like dark brown, light brown, creamy coloured, black, dark green. I used to work in microbiology.

The brown colour is due to the pigment stercobilin, a breakdown product of bilirubin after it has been conjugated by the liver and excreted into the bowel as bile via the gall bladder. Bile is acted on by the bacteria in the gut and by enzymes, and produces stercobilin.
