Does cold water boil faster than hot?

Definitely no it does not. Because I answered the same on an almost identical question earlier the questioner was quite adamant that cold water boiled much faster every time. I did an experiment and the hot water boiled in just over half the time that it took to bring the cold water to a boil. There is no free lunch.
