A domain pointer is a domain that resolves to an IP address that another domain is already pointing at. For example, if you own the domain mywebsite1.com and you register a new domain by the name of mywebsite2.com, and you want both mywebsite1.com and mywebsite2.com to point to the same web site, mywebsite2.com would be considered a domain pointer.
