How does Cox Digital Telephone work?
Cox Digital Telephone is supported by Cox’s extensive digital, fiber-optic cable network, which has been upgraded to handle two-way voice transmissions. This network is interconnected to other local phone companies so customers can call anyone, anywhere, regardless of their phone company. To activate phone service, one of two small devices is installed at the home to connect signals from the outside wiring to the inside wiring within the home. A Network Interface Unit (NIU) may be installed on the outside of the home, or an eMTA (embedded media terminal adaptor or telephone modem) may be installed inside the home.
