Became independent in September 1954 and a republic in 1974 It is approx 17 miles long and 9 miles wide They have stunning churches,neolithic temples,hypogeum,roman ruins of a villa catacombs,Medina a walled town built to withstand the siege,relics from the order of St.John,grand masters palace,war rooms that Churchill stood in,blue grotto,very friendly people,Popeye’s village (where the film was shot) plus other films such as troy,too many more to mention.
