What happens when my telephony message encounters a busy line, no answer or an answering machine?
When the system tries to deliver your message to a phone number, and the line is busy or there’s no answer, it tries again after 5 minutes. If the same thing happens again, it tries calling a third time after 10 more minutes. If for the third time the line is busy or no one answers, it sends you a return message saying it couldn’t reach this phone number. If the message arrives to an answering machine, it waits 10 seconds or until no sound is detected from the machine, and then reads out the message twice.
