What is a save-the-date?
A save-the-date is a card sent out prior to the official wedding invitation that is meant to reserve your guests’ time in advance. Save-the-dates are typically sent out 6-12 months before the wedding. They are especially useful for destination weddings or if your guests need to make travel arrangements or take vacation time. Some people also use save-the-dates to establish the tone of their wedding or alternatively, to send out a more fun card than the wedding invitation to announce the date of their wedding.
