How do i sue a gas company?

On the merits you would have to prove that there was a gas leak, that the company acted unreasonably by not doing anything about it and the adverse consequences of their action. You would also have to show how you, despite the company’s wrong (if proved) did things to avoid the adverse consequences ( by for example moving out and living with relatives for a short while until the problem was fixed. On Procedure make sure that you issue the documents to the right address and the right name of the company. Also make sure that you exhaust all reasonable complaint avenues within the company and recognised body’s to which you could complaint. See a lawyer. If you are in the UK see the CAB.

If you have documentation that firstly there was a leak (gas company would have had to come and fix the problem, which you should have signed off) and that you had been in hospital, then you would be in your rights to take them to a small claims court. It is a lenghty and tedious process but worth while in the end. I’m hesitant though as there is a legal requirement for the gas company to be available 24/7 for gas leaks as it is not only yourself and baby at risk but the whole neighbourhood!

what you should do is write a letter of complaint first, to the gas company, backed up by dates and evidence.and confirmation in writing from the Emergency Company of their findings, relating to the gas leak Wait and see what their response is, and take it from there To sue a corporate company could cost you Thousands of pounds, and you’d have to have written proof of everything you suffered.
