An mp3 player is a device that stores mp3 files for playback. Depending on the amount of storage space, you can store anywhere from 100 to 1000’s of songs. Each file averaging about 5 MB, which equates to 200 songs per 1GB. Mp3 files are a high compression file format typically used for music recordings. They have about a 10:1 file size compression ratio and deliver near CD quality. Since mp3 files are a computer file, you will need to use a laptop or desktop computer to transfer files to your mp3 player. There are legal and illegal services on the internet in which you can download songs. Obviously, the sites that make you buy the songs are the legal ones, where the illegal ones will just allow you to download the songs for free. You can buy CD’s and convert the songs to mp3’s. Or you can just buy your favorite songs from services like Rhapsody and iTunes. If you want an entire CD, it’s cheaper to just buy the CD.
