How does MUN work?
Model United Nations works with the cooperation of three main actors – the Delegates, the Chairs, and the Secretariat Members. The responsibilities and roles of each participating party is outlined in detail below. Delegate: As a Delegate, you will be representing a UN member nation or other internationally working bodies such as UNOs and NGOs. The primary role of a delegate is to bring to the negotiation table an accurate representation of the member nations stance on the given agendas. Delegates will also be required to write position papers and resolutions to debate on. Chair: As a Chair, you will be responsible for facilitating the conference in each of the committees. The primary role of a Chair is to make sure that the debate is conducted according to the UN rules of procedures and providing an environment suitable for fruitful debate.
