How many Asanas?
According to ancient Hindu tradition the lord Shiva is said to have demonstrated 8,400,000 Asanas as many as there are living species, to enable human to keep their body in perfect health. Experiments were carried out on number of Asanas by ancient great Yogis, who reveled those Asanas later on, in order to help human and show the way to speedy evolution. According to Shiva Samhita only 84 postures are described that can help us attain perfect health. Gherands Samhita mentions only 32 asansa that can solve our purpose of good health. In fact there are only 20-25 Yoga asanas and modifications that are required to maintain and regain perfect health. Benefits Experience has shown that effects of Asanas, Pranayama, Mudras, Bandhas are extremely beneficial for human body. There is no other exercise, physical workout, any activity or sports that can provide benefits equal to those offered by Yoga, without tiring or exhausting human.
