Why are american customs so rude?
I agree, but it’s not customs, it’s the immigration service. They appear to be made up bullies and racists intent on abusing people because they have a little power and a uniform. I saw one abuse a young Japanese teenager so much she burst into tears. He was yelling at her in front of about 200 people and the woman who was processing me was laughing at her. They are uniformed thugs. As an aside… I saw the film ‘Amreeka” the other night. There is a scene where a woman is going through immigration at the airport and she is asked what country she is from. She say’s (rightly) no country. I come from a territory called Palestine. Ok says the officer. Occupation?…. oh yes, the woman smiles… 40 years of it!
The United States, like many other world countries, is in a recession, and 1 in 9 Americans are out of work. Many people (especially Brits. It is one of the most common questions asked in this section) seem to believe they can come here on a tourist visa, simply over stay, and take a job away from a qualified American. I’m certain that you have the same problem in the U.K. with immigrants from other less developed countries. They are just doing their job, and they find people lie to them all the time because people want to enter the country. You must understand that one of the big problems in the U.S is caused by people who enter the country illegally, then “disappear” into the society. Also understand that radical religious extremists want to launch terrorist attacks in U.S so they are trained to be suspicious of everyone.
