How Do You Enjoy The Seine River?

The best way to enjoy the Seine river is by taking the "Bateau Mouche", or the popular boats that take tourists on small cruises through the river. There are quite a lot of companies that offer such rides, which can range from short 1-hour trips with a multi-lingual guide, to longer trips exploring the whole river or even dinner cruises that offer a delicious meal and a night-time view of Paris, sometimes even a fireworks display! It is also possible to book private tours on smaller boats, with or without a guide.

Each company has a website and a price-list, plus they offer the option to reserve your trip online. They all depart from different points on the Seine, so it’s a good idea to check beforehand and make sure you get on the right boat once you’re there!

Some popular companies:

Bateaux Mouches

Bateaux Parisienes

Vedettes Pont-Neuf

France’s Seine River runs from the English Channel through Paris to northeastern France. The lovely river divides the city of Paris and is one of the highlights of any visit to the “City of Lights.” Out in the French countryside, the Seine passes vineyards, castles and Norman apple orchards. Stroll the banks of the Seine in Paris. The banks of the Seine River in Paris are some of the most romantic walkways in the world. Take an early morning or late afternoon stroll with someone you love or explore the “bouquinistes,” the used booksellers that set up along the Left Bank of the river. Explore the islands of Paris. The city of Paris was first inhabited by a primitive tribe called the Parisii (from whom the city takes its name). This early settlement was on the Ile de la Cite in the middle of the Seine River. Today, this island is home to many of Paris’ favorite landmarks, including Notre Dame Cathedral, the Conciergerie, where Marie Antoinette was imprisoned during the French Revolution
