A trip to St. Louis wouldn’t be complete without visiting the grand Gateway Arch, the tallest national monument in the United States, standing at 630 feet tall. A trip to the top which provides spectacular views of St. Louis is a must. It takes just a four-minute trip in a small tram that reminds you of a small spacepod. Once you come down from the observatory, there are plenty of educational exhibits to see. Visit the Gateway Arch Observation Area at top of the Arch. At 630 feet high, it’s the highest point in St. Louis. You’ll see 30 miles into the distance on a clear day and downtown St. Louis. To get to the top, you must take a four minute, narrated trip in a very small tram car that seats five people. Moving at about four miles an hour, you’ll reach the top in about ten minutes.
