A venus flytrap is a carnivorous plant. There are sensors around the plant and when an insect touch them, the plant closes and the poor unsuspecting insect has just become lunch or dinner. The plant does not physically chew, as shown on television, but digestive juices juices dissolve the insect. The shell remains in the plant until it is either blown or washed away by the elements.
