How is a Silk Concept duvet made?
There are two parts to a Silk Concept duvet, the fill and the shell. Our duvets are exclusively filled with 100% Mulberry raw silk. Inside your duvet you will see thousands and thousands of strands, these were originally cocoons, which have been stretched out to form layer upon layer of luxurious fill! Once there are enough layers a shell made from cotton or mulberry silk is wrapped around the fill. To complete the duvet we loosely stitch the shell together periodically to keep the shell flat. Some manufacturers will box stitch the duvet. Box stitching is necessary to hold low quality silk in place, stitching directly through the silk fill will damage its performance. In particular the duvets ability to keep you cozy will be hampered because the stitching stops the heat from traveling up and down the silk strands. Avoid box stitched duvets.
