The earliest period in Earth’s history is known as the Hadean, and was very different from modern earth. 1. No oxygen in the atmosphere, mostly CO2, N2 and H2O. 2. Frequent meteorite impacts. 3. No life on earth. 4. Surface temperatures well above 100oC, so all water was in the atmosphere. 5. The sky would have been red due to all the CO2 in the atmosphere. 6. The moon was much closer than it is today, so would have been much larger in the sky. 7. The sun was much dimmer than today, so it would have been quite dark, even in the daytime. 8. Volcanoes were very common and active. 9. There were no continents as we know them today. 10. The atmosphere would have been highly acidic, so erosion would ave occurred much more rapidly than today.
