Can a phobia of spiders link to OCD?

0

Good question! I have OCD (quite severely). And I’m also scared of spiders. It sounds to me that in your case, there is a definite link between the two problems. When you feel a compulsion to wash your hands for example, you reduce the anxiety by carrying out this ritual and it probably makes you feel safe for a while. Same with the spiders, by checking every time before you go to sleep, you are making yourself feel safe. If you are having treatment for the OCD, you should mention the spider problem and try to get help with that too, before it becomes overwhelming. Good Luck.
