What is LD50?

0

LD stands for lethal dose. LD50 is the amount of a material, given all at once, which causes death of 50% (one half) of a group of test animals. The LD50 can be determined by any route of entry, but dermal (applied to skin) and oral (given by mouth) are the most common. The LD50 is one measure of the short-term poisoning potential of a material. The LD50 dose is usually expressed as milligrams or grams of material per kilogram of animal body weight (mg/kg or g/kg). Eco-Max® products were not tested on animals. All LD50 values expressed on Eco-Max® products are calculated based on the LD50 values of the ingredients.
