What Is Major League?
Major League is a baseball comedy about the Cleveland Indians baseball club and their great losing season streaks (before they actually started to get BETTER amazingly AFTER this movie was released! According to the story, the owner of the Cleveland Indians, Donald Phelps, dies suddenly leaving the team and all of his assets to his wife, Rachel, a former showgirl. Rachel Phelps comes up with an idea to move the team to Miami. If attendance is low enough at the stadium for one year, she can break her lease with the City of Cleveland and relocate the team to Florida, where the government has offered her many “perks”, including a new stadium, mansion, and so forth. So, she invites a mass of older major league players past their prime and other unknowns to form a team that is so bad that they will finish dead last where she can move the team, firing all of those players for better ones after the move.
