What is a Master CASA?
A Master CASA is an experienced CASA volunteer who acts as the volunteer GAL in a case. While CASA volunteers attend all hearings with a mentor GAL, a Master CASA acts as an independent volunteer GAL with legal and administrative support from OPA and the CASA programs. Master CASAs must take additional training before they are assigned cases. Currently, the Master CASA program only exists in Anchorage, but may expand to other CASA program locations around the state.
