Why is Victoria unique?
Victoria is unique in BC because of the highly oxygenated, turbulent receiving environment of the Juan de Fuca Strait, filled with active organisms which treat our liquid waste naturally. If the discharge were into a river (as at Chilliwack – the Minister’s riding) we would advocate land-based treatment! But we are not unique in the world. Other jurisdictions have also taken advantage of a favourable receiving environment.
