What is a permanency plan?
Read Kansas law 38-2263 Child in need of care proceedings are to be handled in a way that there is an acknowledgment that the time perception of a child differs from that of an adult. Read Kansas law 38-2201(b). The goal of these proceedings is to achieve permanency for the child at issue. In determining the appropriate permanency plan for a child Kansas law 38-2263(a) requires that the importance of continuity of family relationships and connections being preserved is considered. Kansas statutes require that anytime a child is subject to the jurisdiction of the court in a child in need of care proceeding a permanency plan shall be submitted to the court within thirty days of the initial order of the court.
