When do I fill out the W-9 form
A w-9 should be filled out before you start working for a company.
The w-9 is only filled out by those employees who are independent contractors.
If you will be receiving a w-2 at the end of the year and are considered an employee,
you would fill out a w4 at the beginning of employment.
Ask your employer for either a w9 or w2. If you are independent contractor, that is a 1099
employee ask for a w9 and return it back to your employer. If you are a regular employee
your employer should automatically ask you to fill out a w4.
