Many cultures throughout history have smoked tobacco through a gravity or water bong as a form of socialization. Owning a bong is not illegal and some people collect unusual bongs from all over the globe. Flavored tobaccos may be smoked and savored and passed around the table; taste and flavor is said to be far superior when smoked through water. Wash out a 2-liter soda bottle, and make a small hole with your pocket knife approximately one-third of the way up the bottle. Insert the thin hollow metal pipe into the hole and place the metal socket over the hole. This is where the flavored tobacco is placed and lit when you are ready to savor the smoke.
