What is a “baby quilt”?
Baby quilt — my definition — A small (34″ x 40″ or 34″ x 60″), 3-layer fabric that is used to cover or wrap a baby in. Basically, what defines a quilt as a baby quilt is it’s small size and it’s use. Primarily, it’s use. Small quilts can also have other uses, such as: as wall hangings, as wraps for young children when they come out of the pool, for covering dolls when playing house, and so forth. Any quilt design can be configured to fit into any space you want it to occupy. Therefore, if you had a design that was originally created for a space of, say, 64″ x 90″, by adjusting the dimensions of the individual pieces that made up that design, you could fit it into a larger or smaller space (i.e., make a quilt that was larger or smaller than the original but with the same or similar design). This is my reasoning for not limiting the photos in this Quilt Gallery to only very small quilts. Ideas can come from anywhere … even from larger quilts. All quilts were designed and created by m
