Can Bitlocker be Bypassed?
The whole point of BitLocker, which comes with Vista Enterprise and Ultimate editions, is to protect computers even when someone gains physical access to the machine (such as when a laptop is stolen). It does this by encrypting the entire disk. But now a group of security researchers have announced that they can use a simple can of compressed air to “freeze” the contents of RAM and capture the encryption keys. This applies not just to Vista but also to Apple’s FileVault, third party TrueCrypt and other disk encryption products.
