Tall fescue can be an excellent grass for lawns in regions extending from the central United States to the northern United States and Canada. This grass is shade- and drought-tolerant, and stays green all year. Converting an existing lawn to tall fescue is a process that can be done by most any homeowner living in the proper growing region. Everything that is needed to convert a lawn to tell fescue can be obtained from a home store and a rental store. Set the lawnmower to its lowest blade setting. Mow the lawn. Use the iron rake to remove the grass clippings. While removing the clippings, press down on the rake to scrape the ground. This will allow the fescue seed to more easily contact the ground. Use the aerator to completely aerate the lawn twice. First aerate the lawn in a north-south direction, then in an east-west direction. Fill the broadcast spreader with tall fescue seed.
