What Does Caster Mean?
Caster refers to a small wheel on a swivel attached under the piece of furniture to facilitate moving it. It is measured in degrees and minutes. They are usually found on shopping carts and rolling chairs. A caster has a great effect on the movement of a vehicle and on the manner of its entrance and exits at turns and corners. It is always viewed from the side of the vehicle. Thus it is another element of chassis tuning related to the front wheels. A chair or a vehicle can move full 360 degrees with the help of a caster as seen in a desk chair. Caster can be both positive and negative. The more caster used, the more the wheel resists turning forces, providing stability. More of caster makes it very difficult to steer, and makes the tire camber to alter excessively as the wheel is turned.
