How Do I Mod My Wii?
Modify your Nintendo Wii so it can play backup games that had been saved as computer files. An optical mod circuit board can be purchased from a speciality Wii supply store to enable the Wii to play backup games off of discs or from a USB thumb drive or external USB hard drive. This modification or “modding” requires opening up the Wii and leaving it open, because the optical mod circuit board is too large to fit inside of the Wii. This is not a casual repair and should only be done if you are enthusiastic about altering the Wii so it can play your backups of games. Pull out the power cord and the audio/video connector plug from the Nintendo Wii. Remove the memory card from the memory card slot, if one is there. Remove the sensor bar’s plug from the connector on the Wii. Open the controller port door. Push it up and inward until it loosens from the Wii. Remove the controller port door.
