How is Topaz Formed?
Topaz forms in pegmatites and high temperature quartz veins. It is deposited by fluorine-rich vapors in rocks of rhyolite composition and forms in cavities in granites and rhyolites. Brazil is the largest supplier of topaz, but other deposits are in Afghanistan, Australia, China, Japan, Madagascar, Mexico, Pakistan, Russia, Ukraine, US and Africa. Light blue topaz is also found in the UK.
