What Is A Screenwriter?
A screenwriter is an author who writes the script for films and television programs. Screenwriters have the job of transferring dialogue and scenes from a book into film. They may discuss with the producers what scenes and dialogue from the book should be included in the film and which should be cut out. They may also add new scenes or make alterations to existing ones. Some fans of particular books may be unhappy with the way the script has been written for the film adaptations because they feel that the screenwriters haven’t been faithful to the book. This has often been the case with the Harry Potter films, where one character may be given another character’s lines from the book. Often, screenwriters will mix up scenes from books, meaning that the scenes will happen at a different time to in the books. The screenwriters for the Lord of the Rings films, for example, decided to have the storyline in chronological order, whereas in the books the scenes happen at different times.
