Heat pump insulation?

0

No, only the vapor line needs to be insulated and I prefer 3/4″ wall insulation to 1/2″ on a heat pump installation.

Bruce, It’s Liquid and Suction, The larger line is Liquid, it needs the insulation, no insulation on the smaller line.

Bruce, On a heat pump in the summer time, the suction/vapor line is the larger line, and the liquid line is the small line. In the winter time, the lines switch jobs where the suction/vapor line is the small line and the liquid line is the larger line. You only have to insulate with armaflex insulation 3/8″ to 1/2″ on the larger line, but it doesn’t hurt or cause any problems to insulate both lines. The smaller line doesn’t usually condensate in the winter time. Hope that helps you out.
