DAT files represent a file extension in Windows operating systems that generally means “data” files. DAT files in video are files that are used to store MPEG on VCD and SVCD discs. MPEG video format is an audio and video compression format that supports video CDs and MP3s. MPEG videos are compressed to 352 x 240 at 30 frames per second (fps).
