Bunk beds are the perfect solution for two children in one room. A bunk bed will take up less space and give your children more room in their bedroom to play. Here are the basics of what you will need to make your own bunk bed. First you will want to measure the room that the bunk bed will be in. Make sure to get these measurements correct, so that there is no problem fitting the bunk bed after assembly. You will also want to measure the mattress that will be fitting inside the frame of the bunk bed to make sure that those fit as well. Measure the outside of the frame and leave less then 1/2″ on either side for sheets and comforters. Once you have the measurements, you will need 2 x 4 pieces of wood for the sides of each bed, the top and bottom of each bed, 4 pieces to attach the beds too.
