An endodontist is a dentist who specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases affecting the tissues, nerves, veins, and arteries inside the teeth. The most common procedure endodontists perform is root canal therapy, and usually they get paid 30 to 50 percent more per treatment than family dentists. They do the more challenging treatments that general practice dentists are not qualified to perform.
