How Do You Make A Globe Shade?

0

A globe shade is a necessity if you have interior lights, lamps or even oil lamps that require a shade. You can make these globe shades using a variety of materials from glass to papier-mache. Globe shades come in all sorts of styles and designs and can be decorated anyway you like after they are made. One such design is crafted from four trapezoid-shaped tiles, placed together in a pyramid-like cube. This fits right over the lamp bulb or globe. Create a mock four-sided shade from pieces of cardboard that fits your light fixture. As a guide for your measurements, the bottom of the shade should extend 3 inches below the neck of the light fixture (or top of the globe for inverted lamps) and have a least 2 inches of clearance around the thickest part of the light globe. Use masking tape to secure the sides together. Once the form is built to your liking, remove the masking tape and trace the outlines of the four sides onto four glass tiles using a grease pen. The tiles can be of any style
