What does the image on the back of the Yogi Body t-shirt mean?
The image on the back of the Yogi Body t-shirt was inspired by a secret drawing inside the meditation cave of the Dalai Lamas in Tibet. It represents the three main subtle channels of the inner body: the central channel (sushumna), and the two side channels (ida and pingala). The central channel is said to be the locus of all thoughts involving compassion and selfless love, while the two side channels are stirred by thoughts of anger or attachment. The symbol at the top of the drawing is a Tibetan OM syllable. According to scripture, the two side channels are normally twisted around the central channel, preventing our flow of kindness and true happiness. But in this image, the central channel runs unimpeded, which is one of yoga’s highest goals. To learn more about the inner channels, and about using yoga to transform them, we recommend you find a yoga teacher who is well-trained by Indian masters or their direct disciples.
