Do Battery hens get broody?

0

Battery hens are confined to the limits of their cage & are far from any contact with a rooster,i am therefore a bit surprised as to how the eggs can be fertile. The battery breeds are bred for maximum egg output & they do not have the broody trait as this would mean that the hen would loose a period of time from egg laying, which is her main puropse in life as a battery hen. I wonder if you mean that you have rescued an ex battery hen & are now rearing this hen. As i said before, the breeds selected for battery rearing are usually those that do not have the broody trait. You will need to observe the hen to know if she tends to go broody after laying a clutch of eggs.,without which an incubator would surely be needed.
