How Do You Mold Onigiri?
Onigiri is a very common food in Japan. It is also known as omusubi and nigirimeshi and is often included in packed lunches. Onigiri literally means “taking hold of (something) with your hands”. Here are three very common and easy way to make onigiri. Separate the rice into six equal portions. In this example you will use two portions to make 2 servings of each type of Onigiri. For triangle shaped Onigiri place one portion in your left hand and pack it into a tight semi-triangular shape. Use your right hand to compact the rice into a flat and even thickness as you rotate it in the palm of your left hand. Sprinkle with salt and sesame seeds them wrap it in one of the Nori pieces so that both sides are evenly covered. This should be on one of the flat edges as opposed to a corner.
