How Do You Make Brown Soda Bread Scones?
I was making Irish soda bread today for St. Patrick’s Day tomorrow, and I thought since I had all the baking stuff out that I would try to change up the ingredients a bit to make some soda bread scones. To my delight they came out really nice. I used some whole wheat flour to add more fiber to them. They look a lot like biscuits but are more scone like in taste and texture. They are more savory then sweet, and would go well with dinner. They would be a nice alternative to soda bread for St. Patrick’s Day dinner. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Grease a cookie sheet with butter or Pam and then sprinkle it with some flour. Sift the regular flour, baking soda, salt into a good sized mixing bowl. Then add in the wheat flour and mix all the ingredients together. (See tips if you don’t have a sifter.) Make a well in the middle of the flour mixture and pour in about 3/4 of the buttermilk and mix. Add in the rest and continue mixing. Mix dough until it is soft and moist. Don’t mix beyond that, ove
