What does gicle mean?
The word Gicle (from the French verb “to spray” and pronounced zhee-klay), is used to describe modern high-quality Fine Art Reproduction. Original Paintings are scanned to high resolution digital files and the art work is then carefully reproduced using a high-end ink jet printer and stable pigment-based inks onto the finest quality canvas or fine art paper. The range, or “gamut”, of colour for modern gicles is far greater than that of lithography, traditionally used for fine art reproductions, and the details are crisper.
