Why isn wood filler used?
Wood fiber and filler based composites and installations in marine applications generally don’t mix well. Wood fibers absorb and hold water, making the product more susceptible to mold, fungus and insect attacks. Also, the constant swelling and shrinking of the wood fibers can result in cupping, checking and cracking over a relatively short time frame, especially in marine applications. Discoloration of the wood fibers also occurs.
