Why Earth Science? [updated] Sunday June 29, 2008 A six-minute video on YouTube answers, “because we live on Earth.” The American Geological Institute (AGI) is moving into video for its educational outreach, and “Why Earth Science?” is aimed at the classroom, especially the coming school year. 2008-2009 is the International Year of Planet Earth, and Earth Science Week 2008, coming October 12-18, has the theme “No Child Left Inside.” Any geologist giving presentations at primary schools would make good use of the video, which AGI will soon have available on DVD. Teachers planning their next classes should visit AGI’s education page for these and more resources. But watch the video it’s very well done.
