How Are Nylon Silk Tea Bags Made?
Introduction Real tea that is full flavored requires a great deal of time and effort to prepare. It was not until 1904, due to a packaging concept of a tea entrepreneur named Thomas Sullivan, that the silk tea bag was created. Nylon tea bags were developed more recently as a means of allowing a greater amount of the tea’s flavor to be released into the cup. For either silk or nylon tea bags, however, five sections of material and a drawstring hold the tea in the bag. This design was patented in 1904. Basic Tea Bag Construction Two rectangular pieces of silk or nylon, two square pieces and one bottom piece of the chosen material is required.
